Headlight resistor

Post by Alan_uk »

Hello I thought I'd join as I can't find the info I'm looking for and hoping you guys can help. I've acquired a Camino sport like the dx model with the round headlight in a rather sorry state that's been off the road the years.

Loads of bits was missing like headlight rear light ect. I've now got most parts needed but I'm not sure if my model comes with a resistor that bolts to the horn bracket for the low beam. There's a white wire that's not plugged in to anything so I'm thinking I'm missing the resistor for this. I thought models with brake lights was fitted with a resistor looking at some wiring diagrams. Mine does not have a brake light.

Any help appreciated.

Hello, Ok I thought I was missing a resistor. Could I use a modern 30 ohm 5 watt resistor like this built in? http://uk.farnell.com/multicomp/mcprw05 ... 0000081233

I just found this which is also a uk wiring diagram and looks the same as mine. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd26 ... eitjm.jpeg

tgo
maybe it could
but nothing to find in the uk on e bay ?

but you can try it out

but the resistor
my opinion
if you have no brake light
the light works on a 6 v alternator
it works perfect without also
and the little licht in the headlight is not like a wallaroo of other 12 volt moped , of scooter , that's shines so far

try if it works without
;)

I've not really been looking for a oem Honda part as I wasn't sure if it was needed so I'll keep that in mind and might try a cheap resistor if it's needed.

It did blow a rear 6v 4w bulb when I first wired the rear light up but that was more likely a faulty bulb so replaced with a 8w bulb and seems ok for now.

Front bulb was rather warm after a few minutes too but it didn't blow. If it keeps blowing bulbs do you think I'll need a resistor wired in as shown in my wiring diagram? The resistor is only linked to the white headlight wire unlike the models fitted with brake lights.

Thank you

hello

the 6v 4 watt bulbs das a little mistake of honda :!:

there are very weak :!:

all of the time they are going broken :!:

now if i myself lay a cable i use at front 6 v 15 watt off 6 v21 of 6v 20 watt bulbs
and with no stoplight a bulb behind 6 v 10 watt

thats for sure a better combination :!:

don't use 12 a 6 v bulbs together
that is also for problems

i mean 12 v at front and 6 v behind is not good , the rear light will go always be broken

its important

the voltage

camino org alternators are 6v to produce

at one cable of the alternator
the red one
it produce the light for front and behind together
dont use a rose and red for each light :!:
and the massa on the farme the blue one

but i propose try a 6 v 10 watt behind in combination with a 6 v 15 of 20 watt at front

noramly it works perfect
and with no resistor needed

the resitor for that model of frontlight is normaly for a 2 way bulb
a little light and a bigger light
but the bigger one produces just enough light for a good frontlight :!:
the little one is lika a a candle light ,you don'tsee much with it :!:

i wish you good luck

keep us informed the way it goes

thank you for consider the site

grtz m

Hello

I didn't know Honda listed the wrong rated bulb for the rear! So that'll explains why it blew straight away.

I'm a little confused as to what front bulb your telling me to use? A 6v 15w or a 6v 20w bulb? I have a 15w and a 18w one I could try. I'll also get myself a rear 6v 10w bulb and try this combination.

I know not to mix 6/12v bulbs

The alternator wiring I have is, black/white going to coil, pink green and red as shown below

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd26 ... oovtb.jpeg

My red wire don't have a matching color plug for the main loom so it's left unplugged. Blue is the main earth, pink or the green is the power for the lights/horn I think.

I think my headlight is a 2 way bulb as there is 2 filaments in the bulb, low/high beam controlled by the main switch. I should also state there's also a little pilot light for the high beam light that lights up blue. I think I installed a 1.5w bulb.

I will keep you informed and get some better pictures :-D

Thank you for the advice :d
